The Patron Saint of Cuba, Nuestra Señora de la Caridad del Cobre, la Virgen Mambisa or simply "Cachita" for many Cubans, is venerated by Cuban Catholics and also in the Afro-Cuban syncretic cults as Ochún, the goddess of love and money, owner of the sweet waters. ¨Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre, Patroness of Cuba! Your name and your image are sculpted in this work. in the minds and hearts of all Cubans, inside and outside the homeland, as a sign of hope and a center of fraternal communion......¨ This artwork has a special place in my heart, it was the piece from which I created "Syncretic Rituals", the first piece where I unite my Cuban roots with my Japanese art studies
